The following review contains spoilers for Heroes through the current episode, “It’s Coming,” originally broadcast November 17th, 2008.

Last week’s episode, “Villains,” now stands as my least favorite episode of Heroes. Therefore, “It’s Coming” didn’t have to do all that much work to look good by comparison. And, in some ways, it was a very good episode that seems to have finally set the stage for the final confrontation between heroes and villains. Knowing Heroes, however, I imagine there will be a few more episodes filled with what appears to be filler before things truly start to shake up.

The following review contains spoilers for Legend of the Seeker through the current episode, “Brennidon,” originally broadcast the weekend of November 15th, 2008.

This was the second standalone episode of Legend of the Seeker; last week’s “Bounty” was the first episode following the two-hour premiere.  I don’t actually have all that much to say about this episode.  The main storyline, in which Richard stumbled upon the town where he was born, was a good one.  I can’t say the same for the subplot involving Zedd’s potential offspring, though.

The following review contains spoilers for Ghost Whisperer through the current episode, “Threshold,” originally broadcast November 14th, 2008.

After the shocking events in last week’s episode I was expecting more from “Threshold.” There was much to be disappointed with, in my opinion, along with some nice moments as well. We now know what the producers of Ghost Whisperer have in mind for the rest of the season (and potentially the series) after last week’s shocking turn of events.

I’d like to apologize for what is at this point a continuing but finite hiatus from writing the column (and Fringe reviews).  Rest assured, I will be back.

The following review contains spoilers for Supernatural through the current episode, “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” originally broadcast November 13th, 2008.

This was an interesting episode that both continued the Sixty-Six Seals story line (last touched upon in “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester”) and, through flashbacks, attempted to fill in some of what happened to Sam during Dean’s time in Hell. Judging from the reaction I’ve observed among fans of Supernatural, what was depicted in the flashbacks wasn’t particularly welcomed. On the other hand, most viewers seemed to have enjoyed the “present” story line, which involved a guest role from actress Julie McNiven (who portrays Hildy, a secretary, on AMC’s delightful Mad Men).

Monday, November 3rd, 2008 – Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Broadcast Networks

As has been the case lately, there were some pre-emptions this week.  On Monday, in lieu of Heroes, NBC broadcast its “SNL Presidential Bash 2008 which drastically outperformed rapidly declining Heroes.  Due to the election on Tuesday, Fringe was also pre-empted.  Otherwise, it was business as normal.  On Friday, Ghost Whisperer rebounded from its season low in the adults 18-49 demographic (a 2.2/8 on October 31st) and grew to a season high 2.8/9 while also hitting a season high in total viewers.

The following review contains spoilers for Smallville through the episode, “Bloodline,” originally broadcast November 6th, 2008.

Hey, do you remember that girl that lived at the Kent farm for a while? Blond hair, tall, pretty, vapid expression? Wasn’t she supposed to be Clark’s cousin or something? Carla? Kari? Kara!?! Yeah, that was it, Kara. I haven’t seen her since last season. Don’t remember her? Don’t feel bad. No one in Smallville seems to have given her much thought, either. At least, not until now.

The following review contains spoilers for Heroes through the current episode, “Villains,” originally broadcast November 10th, 2008.

As much as I hate to say it, this may well have been the single worst episode of Heroes ever. And that includes the disappointing first season finale (“How to Stop an Exploding Man”) and the entire subpar second season. Despite including storylines involving two of my favorite actresses, Kristen Bell and Jessalyn Gilsig, as two of my favorite characters, Elle and Meredith, it’s impossible to reconcile their appearances with the otherwise disappointing nature of this episode*.

The following review contains spoilers for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles through the current episode, “Mr. Ferguson Is Ill Today,” originally broadcast November 10, 2008.

QUINN’S STORY

This episode of Terminator has the potential to be huge.  It has the potential to be one of the biggest (and possibly strongest) episodes in the series.  It has the writing, the acting, and the cajones to move the story into bigger and better places.  In an isolated episode, it was fantastic, and as FOX moved to the credits, I was completely satisfied.  But if the promo is any indication, it could all be for not.
