I’ve been watching The Twilight Zone on SCI FI Channel since 8AM this morning (there are some episodes I’ve seen upwards of five or six times — wow) and it seems as if every commercial break has at least one promotional spot for the return of Battlestar Galactica on January 16th, 2009. Not to mention those annoying quarter-of-the-screen banners that run for a few seconds after a commercial ends. If only there were more than two or three spots SCI FI was rotating. I’ve seen each of them a dozen times and its getting annoying.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this promotional push isn’t going to help Battlestar Galactica gain new viewers. There are only two types of viewers tuning in to this marathon: 1) regular SCI FI Channel viewers who are already highly anticipating the return of Battlestar Galactica, and 2) fans of The Twilight Zone who are only watching the channel because of the marathon. In other words, please, SCI FI, cut back on the Battlestar Galactica overdose!

Agreed. The funny thing is that no one would be affected by it. Even if the ad grabbed someone who doesn't watch the show (like me), there are two main problems.
1. The ads don't show enough to intrigue someone who doesn't watch the show. And I assume those that would be intrigued are hardcore-ish viewers who would've watched anyway.
2. Even if they got someone interested, who's going to watch a show with only two episodes remaining?

There are actually ten episodes left, not two, but your point stands. The last half of the last season of any show would be a tough sell, let alone a show like Battlestar Galactica!
