How I Got These Scars No. 10
December 19th, 2008
If the new Star Trek movie was delayed until next year, then the fans did not, in the end, have much to complain about in 2008, and there are two reasons. One’s as simple as undeniable anticipation. The other’s something more surprising, a coda to the era that’s about to officially pass, and it’s called Star Trek: Of Gods and Men.

December 19th, 2008
ScoringSessions.com has come up with a novel way of previewing Michael Giacchino’s scoring sessions for J.J. Abrahms’s anticipated film Star Trek (2009) that doesn’t conflict with the longstanding media blackout — and general sense of mystery — surrounding the film. We won’t ruin the surprise but boy is it unique.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – 2×13 – “Earthlings Welcome Here”
December 18th, 2008
The following review contains spoilers for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles through the current episode, “Earthlings Welcome Here,” originally broadcast December 15, 2008.
We’re through half a season of the second year of Terminator, and we’ve come to a hiatus. After a collection of very strong episodes, we come to the fall finale. And instead of an episode tying together pieces of the season, bringing us to cliffhanger that will carry us to February, we get an episode full of misplaced flashbacks, crossdressing scientists, and UFO fanatics. Maybe we want to try this “fall finale” thing again?
Majel Barrett Roddenberry Passes Away
December 18th, 2008
Majel Barrett Roddenberry has passed away at the age of 76. Born Majel Lee Hudec, the actress married Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry in 1969. Her association with the Star Trek franchise, however, dates back to 1964 when she appeared in the original, unsold pilot for Star Trek as the enigmatic Number One. She later took on the role of Nurse Christine Chapel during the three year run of Star Trek. When Star Trek: The Next Generation premiered in 1987, Majel created the role of Lwaxana Troi, the overbearing mother of Deanna Troi. She also voiced the Starfleet computer.
Heroes – 3×13 – “Dual”
December 16th, 2008
The following review contains spoilers for Heroes through the current episode, “Dual” originally broadcast December 15th, 2008.
To say that “Dual,” the final installment in Volume Three: Villains was disappointing would be an understatement. To call it frustrating would be putting it nicely. But to suggest that, like the third volume as a whole, “Dual” bungled what could have been a return to greatness for Heroes would be apt and just. I truly don’t want to write this review. I would much rather begin the lengthy process of attempting to forget it so that by the time Volume Four: Fugitives begins in February 2009 I’ll be more willing to give it a chance.

December 10th, 2008
The following review contains spoilers for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles through the current episode, “Alpine Fields,” originally broadcast December 8, 2008.
I’m sure most of the visitors to Lower Decks are familiar with the episode of Star Trek: Voyager, “Equinox”. In this episode, Voyager comes across another Starfleet vessel (the Equinox) stranded in the Delta Quadrant. But unlike Voyager, the Equinox wasn’t prepared for the dangers of the Delta Quadrant, and it also didn’t have the same kind of luck. The Equinox was a shattered mirror in a lot of ways, showing what would’ve happened if things didn’t happen the way they did.
Well, Sarah Connor, it’s time to meet your Equinox.
