Lower Decks

Lower Decks will be live blogging SCI FI Channel’s Battlestar Galactica marathon all day.  It began this morning at 8AM ET with a recap special and the last three episodes of Season Three but we’re starting with “He That Believeth in Me,” the Season Four premiere, at 11:30AM ET.

9:59PM – forst – Well, that’s it.  One last promo for the new episode at 10PM plus the one in the closing credits makes four.  I assume there were about a million shown throughout the marathon.  I had hoped other writers here at Lower Decks would have joined in the live blogging fun but I guess I’m the only one who had nothing better to do.  I’m not going to bother live blogging “Sometimes a Great Nothin” because we hope to have a review of published by Monday.  Remember that the episode tonight runs 3.5 minutes past the hour.

9:55PM – forst – Nice looking blue skies. Check. White clouds. Check. Radioactive wasteland. Check.

9:52PM – forst – Jeez, people, you’d think you might want to, you know, look around before all the celebrating.

9:51PM – forst – Confirmation from Gaeta?  It’s Earth!

9:46PM – forst – We’re off to find Earth!  Yay.

9:42PM – forst – Peace between the Cylons and the Colonials?

9:36PM – forst – Kara!  We were so close to seeing Tigh sucked into space and you ruined it.  Also, promo #2.

9:31PM – forst – Oh Kara.  It’s hard not to feel sorry for you but I can do it.

9:27PM – forst – Poor Adama.  He’s lost the faith.

9:26PM – forst – Smash your little ship again, Adama.  Smash it!

9:23PM – forst – Is this really the first promo?  Could be.  Only 37 minutes to go.

9:22PM – forst – Oh Bill, you’re only thinking what tons of Battlestar Galactica fans are thinking.  How can Tigh be a Cylon?  It boggles the mind.

9:21PM – forst – Tigh admits to Adama that he’s a Cylon!  He’s one of the Five.  Adama sure doesn’t believe it.

9:17PM – forst – The music is back, it seems, and so is Tyrol’s hair.

9:17PM – forst – What is Tigh going to do?

9:15PM – forst – Of course Baltar has to pretend he knew Tory was a Cylon.  His ego would never recover if he thought he had been deceived.  Also, Tory makes a wonderful Cylon.  But why have the others (Tigh, Tyrol and Anders) not become so Cylon-ified.

9:07PM – forst – Tory was the first two make her way to D’Anna.  Why am I not surprised?

9:00PM – forst – This is it, the last episode from the first half of Season Four.  I imagine some pretty shocking things happen over the course of the next hour.

“Revelations”

8:59PM – forst – And the necessary closing promo makes five.

8:56PM – forst - Promo #4.

8:55PM – forst – Roslin and Adama reunited.  Cue romantic music and tears.

8:52PM – forst – That was fantastic.  D’Anna is always great fun.

8:41PM – forst – Yes!  Let him bleed to death.  Ignore his pleas for mercy.

8:39PM – forst – Kill him, Madame President!  Kill him!

8:36PM – forst – No matter.  The centurion has been blown up.

8:35PM – forst – Is Baltar really having a conversation with that centurion or is he just talking to hear himself speak?

8:27PM – forst – Promo #3.  And I think it’s a new one I haven’t seen before.

8:25PM – forst – Uh-oh, Baltar is bringing religion to the centurions.

“The Hub”

7:59PM – forst – And the closing credits promo makes #4, unless I missed a few.

7:56PM – forst – At least Adama will be able to finish his book.  And promo #3.

7:54PM – forst – Adama’s really in love with Roslin, isn’t he?  I had no idea.  The man hid it well.

7:49PM – forst – Lee’s first name is Leland?  No way.

7:47PM – forst – So, Romo’s a bit of a misanthrope, isn’t he.  But if Lance the Cat has been dead for weeks, what was Lee seeing in Romo’s quarters?

7:46PM – forst – Promo #2.  Have I missed any of SCI FI’s promos?  Only two and the episode is almost over?

7:42PM – forst – Whoa.  Romo pulling a gun on Lee?  Did not see that coming.

7:41PM – forst – So Romo talks to himself and/or his cat.  Is there anyone on Galactica who isn’t a little nuts?

7:39PM – forst – When no one can Adama into listening to reason, who do you call? Romo Lampkin.

7:31PM – forst – Adama versus Tigh in an all-out smackdown.  Or, two old guys hitting each other.  And one only has one eye.

7:30PM – forst – What!  Tigh’s been letting Little Tigh out and about with a Cylon?

7:27PM – forst – Romo, that’s his name.

7:19PM – forst – Pike’s dead.  And promo #2.  I’m conflicted here: I’m enjoying the mystery of where the Cylon ship went and what has happened to Roslin and Baltar but I loathe the political aspects back on Galactica.  Does every episode have to involve a political crisis?

7:13PM – forst – It’s that guy!  The lawyer dude.

7:10PM – forst – Promo #1.

7:03PM – forst – President Zarek.  Has a nice ring to it.

“Sine Qua Non”

6:29PM – forst – The closing credits promo makes six.  Heh.  And this is where we bow out for a half-hour.  A recap special is airing now.  We will be back at 7:00PM.

5:38PM – forst – Battlestar Galactica resorting to a cliche like “communications down” for the sake of drama?  Ugh.

“Guess What’s Coming to Dinner?”

5:29PM – forst – The promo during the closing credits brings the total for this episode to six.

5:26PM – forst – I don’t even know what’s going on any more (par for the course with this show). Roslin is hallucinating again and now thinks it means Baltar might be right? The “final five” Cylons apparently know the way to Earth? And some of the Cylons now want to work with the Colonials? What happened to the plan the Cylons had?  And when did Adama suddenly begin believing in Earth?  Is he just telling Roslin what she wants to hear or does he truly think they’ll find Earth?  And Promo #5.

5:00PM – forst – Promo #4.  These are getting disgustingly repetitious.

4:56PM – forst – Aw, the poor Six has nightmares.  What a nutty concept.

4:42PM – forst – Cylon burial ground in space.

4:32PM – forst – This is the best scene ever.  Starbuck in a headlock?  Anders shooting Gaeta in the leg?  Finally, some action.

“Faith (2)”

4:16PM – forst – Finally, someone (tries) standing up to Starbuck.  Chain of command is good and all but Starbuck is obviously nuts.

3:47PM – forst – So now Tyrol cares about Cally again?  Last episode he called her a shriek with vacant eyes. And what is going on with Tory? Why is she so obsessed with Baltar? Where did this come from…

3:36PM – forst – Yawn.  Baltar as a messiah figure has been done.

3:31PM – forst - I’ve been noticing during episode recaps bits of dialogue that weren’t in previous episodes.  An interesting way to sneak footage that ended up on the cutting room floor into “canon.”

“The Road Less Traveled (1)”

3:28PM – forst – Promos #4 and #5 and the closing credits promo.

3:24PM – forst – Uh-oh.  Is Tyrol going to kill his kid?

3:20PM – forst – So now Baltar’s invisible Six can pick him up?  I suppose that isn’t much of a stretch from having sex with him, but still.

3:16PM – forst – Oh, Baltar, when will you ever learn not to trust that Six in your head?

3:09PM – forst – Excellent.  More political wrangling.  How exciting.

3:06PM – forst – Promo #3.

3:04PM – forst – Ouch, Chief.  That’s cruel.  A shriek?  Vacant eyes?  That hurts.

2:51PM – forst – Ah, fun, more religious ranting.

2:37PM – forst – I wonder why Tory has latched on to the whole “being a Cylon” thing so strongly.

2:30PM – forst – I haven’t seen this episode or any that follow it.  It’s a brand new experience.

“Escape Velocity”

2:25PM – forst – Woosh.  Hail and farewell, Cally.  That Tory is so cold and harsh, isn’t she?

2:20PM – forst – Bam!  Upside the head with a wrench.  Ouch.

2:14PM – forst - Oh no.  Cally has stumbled upon the truth.  And it isn’t at all what she suspected.

2:08PM – forst - So how many times has Lee gone from supporting Roslin to opposing her?

1:56PM – forst – I’m finding all of the Galactica storylines in this episode dull.  I’m actually more interested in what’s happening with the Cylons.

1:37PM – forst – Poor Cally.  First she sees her husband with another woman and then she throws up?  Not to mention the screaming baby.

“The Ties That Bind”

1:29PM – forst - Wow, SCI FI just showed two promos for tonight’s new episode back-to-back and then aired a third during the closing credits.  So that’s seven during “Six of One.”

1:22PM – forst – Cylons killing Cylons.  Yikes.  Whatever happened to the Cylons trying to destroy humanity?

1:15PM – forst - Promo #4.

1:12PM – forst – The music in Lee’s farewell scene is very pretty.  It’s a touching scene, too, although should all these important people really be in the same place at the same time?  What if a bomb were to go off?

1:10PM – forst – The Galactica has really, really big jail cells (brig cells?).

12:59PM – forst – “Is it you, Six, in disguise?”  Ah, brilliant.  And Baltar is now seeing himself in his head?  Plus the third promo for tonight’s premiere.

12:53PM – forst – I thought Boomer was dead.  Or is Athena the one who is dead?  Such confusion.

12:48PM – forst – Will Kara’s “We’re going the wrong waaaay” become another “Khaaaan!” or at least another “Waaaaalt!” or will it just fade away when the series ends?  Also, promo number two.

12:45PM – forst - Huh.  I seem to have forgotten how Tigh, Tyrol, Anders and Tory know there is a “fifth” Cylon like them.

12:40PM – forst - First promo for tonight’s premiere during “Six of One.”

12:33PM – forst – Kara makes a damn good point.  Roslin’s displayed a lot of nutty behavior over the years.

“Six of One”

12:29PM – forst – I’m going to say the joint promo for the marathon today and the new episode tonight counts.  So four promos during “He That Believeth in Me.”

12:25PM – forst - Cliffhanger ending!  Uh-oh.

12:16PM – forst - Promo count is now three.

12:11PM – forst – Lee plays the dead brother card.  Nice.

12:06PM – forst - Promo count is now two.

11:51AM – forst – Yes!  Promo for tonight’s new episode.  The count stands at one.

11:44AM – forst - The first commercial break is over and no mention of the new episode tonight?  There was a spot for the Battlestar Galactica prop auction, though.

11:34AM – forst – In his hallucination, one-eyed Tigh shoots Adama through the eye.  Is there a deeper meaning there?

11:30AM – forst – I think I’ll count the number of promos SCI FI airs during each episode for the mid-season premiere tonight.
