FOX’s 2009-2010 Schedule: What It Means For You
May 18th, 2009
FOX has revealed its 2009-2010 television schedule. As usual, it is broken into two parts: fall 2009 and winter 2010. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is nowhere to be found and has been officially cancelled. In a surprising move, however, the network has renewed Dollhouse for a second season. It will remain on Fridays at 9PM following a new sitcom, Brothers, and a returning sitcom, ‘Til Death. Fringe moves to Thursday at 9PM for its second season after Bones. Premiering in mid season is Human Target, a new drama based on the DC Comics character.
Read all about FOX’s 2009-2010 schedule at the futon critic, Variety and The Live Feed. Hit the comments with your thoughts. Will Dollhouse sink even lower in the Nielsen ratings in its second season? Should FOX have renewed Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles instead? Can Fringe survive without additional boosts from American Idol?
Supernatural – 4×22 – “Lucifer Rising”
May 17th, 2009
Supernatural
“Lucifer Rising
Originally Broadcast Thursday, May 14th, 2009
Well that was a kick in the pants, wasn’t it? A season finale with twists and turns and a humdinger of an ending. And it was filled with violence from start to finish. The nun massacre was particularly chilling. But there was also a stabbing, drinking blood, writing with blood on a wall and more. As violent as it was, however, “Lucifer Rising” was an episode about betrayal.
Legend of the Seeker – 1×20 – “Sanctuary”

Legend of the Seeker
“Sanctuary”
Originally Broadcast the Weekend of Saturday, May 9th, 2009
What an odd episode this was. It was yet another good episode (I’ve lost count) but still an odd one. It was a continuation of a plot point introduced in the previous episode (“Cursed”) about another existing copy of the Book of Counted Shadows. While searching for said book Richard, Kahlan and Zedd visit a library, meet a librarian, her daughter and their friend, a painter. Dramatic happenings ensue.
HYGOTS No. 31

Now that Zachary Quinto has won over a few more fans as the new Spock in ‘Star Trek,’ now would be a great time to reexamine his other famous role, Sylar in ‘Heroes.’ So the fortunes of the series have gone in the eyes of its fans, Sylar has become increasingly less popular, with some suggesting that, among other things, if he were simply eliminated, the show would actually be the better for it. Imagine telling that to someone watching during the first season. This column’s called “How I Got These Scars,” I’d like to remind the reader, because I haven’t often found myself in the popular stream of opinion, which has only strengthened my resolve, my convictions, and my own faith in my tastes. Well, folks, for me, Sylar is emblematic of everything ‘Heroes’ has done right, a constant symbol of its potential, and as he survives, a key element of its greater meaning.

LOST‘s producers referred to the season five finale as a “game changer.” That, heading into the final season of the show, things wouldn’t ever be the same. And I can safely say that, after watching the finale, they were right. Because the events of “The Incident” have changed the game, and I don’t think LOST will ever be the same again.
Smallville – 8×22 – “Doomsday”

Smallville
“Doomsday”
Originally Broadcast 5/14/08
Smallville, in its 8th season, has a new breath of life. Lana and Lex are gone, ending the mindless love triangle that most people despised. Clark has surrounded himself with Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen, and a mini Justice League to push him one step closer to Superman. He’s left the small town behind, and he’s ready to become the hero he’s always been destined to be.
Well, based on this episode, maybe not so much.

Fringe
“There Is More Than One of Everything”
Originally broadcast 5/12/09
Perhaps because we got a renewal for a second season, the first one ends on a cliffhanger, a particularly wicked one, because the show finally seems ready to begin answering our questions. And yet, the ad for the next season suggests, “answers will be questioned”…
