Summary
Following the events of “Torn” a small contingent
of Vipers is sent to investigate the dying base star. Athena
confirms that it was disabled by something she has never
seen before. Apollo says he doesn’t think it will
offer them any resistance. A landing team begins to investigate
the desolate ship. The team finds the dead Cylons and has
no idea what is happening. Athena hooks into the computer
system to try and discover what has happened. As she does
the team finds 5 living Cylons. A dying Eight calls Athena
a traitor but warns her to stay away because of the disease.
On Galactica Doc Cottle prepares quarantine procedures
for the returning landing party. Cottle wants to examine
the captured Cylons so he can possibly find a cure.
As the team returns the base ship explodes.
On the other base ship, Caprica Six and Three confront
Baltar; asking how long he will betray them. They know
about the beacon, and think that he led the ship there
to infect the Cylons. He apologizes for excluding the beacon
in his report. Two centurions enter the room and Three
says they expect to get all the information he knows… and
Baltar finds himself on a beach with Six, trying to hide
from his torture. The only thing he tells them is that
he is in love with Caprica Six.
In the quarantine Cottle comes to an antsy crew to tell
them that humans are immune and they are all free to go,
but doesn’t let Athena leave. Helo is upset that
Cottle hasn’t yet done her blood work.
After Cottle studies the captured Cylons he quickly finds
a cure. The Cylons would require regular injections of
his antibodies, but he can cure them. However Apollo decides
to ask the “ugly question”… should they
keep them alive? Helo and Adama both think that they should
be kept for intelligence gathering.
During the interrogation the Simon model explains how
the disease could easily spread throughout the Cylons if
one of them was downloaded in a resurrection ship. He also
tells the crew that Baltar pointed them in the direction
of the lion nebula. Simon tells the crew that the Cylons
want a new beginning, much like the humans. As Simon is
lead away Apollo realizes that they can use the disease
as a weapon. He then explains his plan to Roslin.
Helo objects, calling it genocide. Say that it makes them
no different than the Cylons. Roslin disagrees, saying
that it wasn’t they who set out to destroy a race
of people. Helo responds by saying that at least they tried
to live together on New Caprica. He also says that if Athena
can be the way she is, can’t other Cylons?
In his projected reality Baltar’s Six is trying
to get him to concentrate on something other than the pain.
She helps him get away from the pain. In the real world
he tells Three that he had nothing to do with the virus.
While talking with Three Baltar tells her that he can help
her reconcile faith and fact. While talking to his imaginary
Six he says I love you to Three.
When Helo returns to his quarters he finds Athena, who
is immune to the virus. Carrying the hybrid child to term
unleashed some anti-bodies that nullified the disease.
Helo then tells his wife about the plan to infect the Cylons.
As Adama and Roslin have a drink he says that he isn’t
allowed to use biological weapons without a Presidential
order… and Roslin orders it.
Athena tells Helo that she made a decision to wear a uniform,
and she will stick with that decision even if she is the
last Cylon in the universe.
Galactica jumps and prepares for their plan to infect
a resurrection ship. The prisoners will be executed when
the Cylons show up. In the brig, the Cylons are already
dead, so the plan has become moot. The ship jumps before
a major battle occurs.
Helo prepares to be taken away, taking solace in that
he did what he thought was right. But he won’t be
taken away, Adama won’t investigate the charges.
He also tells here that the beacon was accidentally contaminated
3,000 years ago, when the 13th colony left.
