Three cheers for Super NBC Announcer Man, recapping the last few episodes. Such drama! Such danger!

In New York City, Hiro and Ando rejoice at having somehow made it back to the proper timeline. Of course, the hard part has only begun. Hiro, of course, is excited at the opportunity to change the future. But the comic book Hiro brought back from the future is incomplete, the word bubbles are empty. They plan on going to see Isaac so the artist can fill in the missing pieces.

At Nathan's home, Heidi and the kids return from some trip. Peter and Claire are also present, although Claire seems apprehensive at the though of meeting Nathan's real family. Mama Petrelli is helping Claire pack for Paris but leaves to give Peter a chance to say goodbye. Instead, Peter asks her not to leave, figuring that they have some sort of destiny. But Claire is certain Nathan's way will keep her safe (despite the fact that, as Peter points out, she cannot get hurt). Peter explains that he is afraid of exploding -- like a nuclear bomb -- and Claire instantly makes the connection between going nuclear and good ole fiery Ted.

Speak of the devil ... In St. Louis, Missouri, the Terrific Trio (Parkman, Ted and Mr. Bennett) are looking for some wheels. Ted uses his ability to heat up a frozen car while Mr. Bennett convinces Matt not to call his wife. All they have to do is get to New York City and destroy the "Walker System," a newfangled tracking system that can find them wherever they are. Ted finally gets the car started and the three get on the road.

Sylar, in Isaac's Manhattan studio, has just finished a new painting of the future that features Ted. He realizes that Ted is the exploding man and wonders if he is destined to take Ted's power and explore in New York City. Isaac's dead body is still sprawled on the floor.

Mohinder gets a call from Sylar, who is worrying about killing a lot of people. He is disturbed by the thought of so much death, unlike the others he has killed; the thought of killing so many innocent people terrifies him. Mohinder dials 911 while telling Sylar to turn himself in. Sylar overhears Mohinder's attempt to summon help and hangs up.

In Las Vegas, D.L. and Jessica discuss Micah's abduction by Linderman. D.L. blames Jessica and storms out to find his son. Niki, from her mirror prison, begs Jessica to stop D.L., warning her that he will be killed if he goes alone. Jessica leaves.

Micah, meanwhile, is busy playing video games in New York City, under the watchful eye of Candice. She worries that her talents are being wasted but Linderman reassures her over the phone. She uses her shape shifting ability to turn into Jessica (or Niki, one of the two) and talks with Micah. Unfortunately, Micah does not like the way Mr. Linderman smells and does not want to do the job. Candice-as-Jessica tries to convince him it is the right thing to do but Micah, the bright boy he is, does not seem to buy it.

Mohinder and Thompson meet to discuss the possibility of working together. Mohinder insists that Thompson turn over whatever information his organization has so Mohinder can try to stop Sylar. Thompson brings Mohinder to meet Molly Walker, a little girl who survived an attack by Sylar that left her parents dead. Her nucleotides are decomposing, for some reason, and Thompson believes Mohinder can do something to help her. Molly's disease has only been seen in one other case: Mohinder's sister in 1974. Papa Suresh developed a cure too late to save Shanti and Thompson's people cannot unlock the secrets of the cure. Mohinder is Molly's only chance.

Sylar, still at Isaac's studio, makes a call to some unknown person and begs for a chance to meet and talk things over. Outside the studio, Hiro and Ando look over the unfinished comic before walking inside and finding Isaac's body. Things are happening just the way Hiro saw. Sylar is in the bathroom sprucing up, so Hiro and Ando hide behind a large canvass. Ando gulps, allowing Sylar to use his super hearing to locate them.

(After a commercial)

Sylar orders Hiro and Ando to come out from behind the painting. He uses his telekinesis to rip the canvas from its stand but Hiro and Ando are gone.

Hiro and Ando appear in a convenience store. They see Sylar walk by and Ando suggests they follow him. Hiro, however, is not sure what to do; the comic book indicates he is supposed to kill Sylar after the election, which has yet to take place. Ultimately, the two decide to trail Sylar.

At the Corinthian Hotel in Las Vegas, D.L. and Jessica walk through a wall and find themselves in Linderman's private museum. They stumble upon one of Isaac's paintings that depicts Micah apparently stuck inside a burning building. They also find a variety of pictures and documents relating to Niki -- her medical records, her fourth grade report card -- leading D.L. to deduce that their entire lives have been part of a complex experiment by Linderman. If they can find Linderman, they can find Micah.

Mohinder draws some blood from Molly, explaining that he wants to stop the man who hurt her family. She calls him the boogeyman and says nobody can stop him. Her ability allows her to think about someone and find them wherever they are in the world, although it is not working at the moment due to her illness. Mohinder realizes that Molly can lead them right to Sylar.

Claire tells Nathan and Peter all about Ted. After letting slip that Nathan can fly -- which Claire thinks is cool -- Peter wants Nathan to call the FBI and have them track down Ted. He promises to make a few calls. He tells Claire he admires her bravery and then calls Linderman, explaining that they have a problem.

Sylar shows up at his mother's ratty apartment with Hiro and Ando hot on his heels. They are a bit shocked to discover that Sylar has a mother -- or perhaps they are just surprised he has not killed her yet. She pulls her son into the apartment and shuts the door.

(After a commercial)

Sylar has brought his mother a snow globe from Texas for her collection. She only needs one from Oregon to complete her collection of snow globes from the continent. Sylar notices that her clock is broken -- it was his father's -- and sits down to fix it. Mama Sylar is proud of her son for traveling the world. But he is sick of traveling and suggests that he stay in Queens with his mother. It might be the only way to stop the future... Mama Sylar wants to make her son a tuna sandwich. Sylar does not want a tuna sandwich. The two get into an argument over the fact that Mama Sylar thinks her son can do whatever he sets his mind to.

At Nathan's campaign headquarters, Claire spots Thompson talking with Nathan and realizes that Nathan might not be the trustworthy birth father she thought he was. Peter is unable to consider the possibility that his brother is working with the enemy and tries to convince Claire that everything is okay. But she runs of. Nathan, meanwhile, cannot understand why Thompson wants to blow up half of New York City.

Candice-as-Jessica takes a shower, leaving Micah to his own devices. He turns up the volume on the television, uses his ability to unlock the door, and runs off into the hallway. It seems to stretch on forever, in every direction. Each door he opens leads him right back to the room he is trying desperately to escape from and he finds Candice inside. She explains that she can make him see whatever she wants, making it rather hard to escape. She does not want to hurt him, so as long as he behaves, things will be okay.

While Mama Sylar does the dishes, Sylar ponders his future. He asks his mother if it would be wrong of him to hurt a lot of people if it would help him become "special." She replies that he could never hurt anyone. While Hiro and Ando watch from a window, Sylar grabs the sink hose and sprays it towards the ceiling. He uses one of his many and varied abilities to turn the water into snow, creating a virtual snow globe swirling around himself and his mother. But the power gets the best of him and his mother's snow lobe collection begins to spin around the room. One smashes into her face and she runs off.

Mohinder has become frustrated over Molly's condition. He explains to Molly that his father found a cure that they cannot find. She finds a picture of Shanti and shows it to Mohinder, who has never seen her before. He promises Molly that he will find the cure. She hands him a drawing of a star that she says will protect him from Sylar.

Hiro and Ando watch as Sylar tries to get his mother to come out of her room. She has locked herself inside, frightened, and nothing Sylar says will get her to come out. Ando pushes Hiro to take this opportunity to kill Sylar but Hiro will not go against the Bushido code which states everyone deserves a second chance. And Sylar is begging for forgiveness. Ando insists that Future Hiro would not hesitate to kill Sylar but Hiro does not want to turn into the cold, dark man version of himself. So, Ando explains that in the future, he is killed by Sylar, and Hiro

Finally leaving her room, Mama Sylar calls her son damned and tells him to get out of the house. She grabs a pair of scissors and brandishes them at Sylar, screaming that he is not her son. The two struggle and the scissors are thrust through Mama Sylar's heart. As she begins to fall, Hiro freezes time and walks inside. He pulls his sword and prepares to cut off Sylar's head. But Sylar restarts time and grabs the sword. At first, he begs Hiro to kill him but then freezes the blade and threatens to kill Hiro. Ando bursts in and Hiro's teleports them away, leaving Sylar and his mother's body.

Mohinder has found the cure for Molly's illness. It was inside himself all along, hidden inside his body's own antibodies. He was born too late to save Shanti but he can cure Molly.

Hiro and Ando reappear in Isaac's studio. The sword is broken and Hiro has no idea how to stop Sylar.

At Nathan's house, Claire is all packed and ready to go. She almost slipped out without saying goodbye to Peter. He hands her a pistol and tells her that should things get really bad she is the only person who can get close enough to shoot him in the back of the head. Obviously, Claire is not keen on killing her uncle and when Peter shows her a painting he made of the future, she points out that it is Ted exploding, not Peter. He recognizes the plaza shown in the painting and the two head off to try to find Ted.

Mama Petrelli drops by to talk things over with her son. She got a call from Linderman. She has been part of Linderman's plans for a long time. She tells him that his only weakness is faith. Apparently, she thinks it is destiny for him to bring the world together after millions are killed in New York City. Doing so is supposed to help him get elected President. He accepts his fate.

Sylar uses his mother's blood to paint the image of a nuclear explosion on the floor. He talks to himself, explaining that he knows he can be special. In fact, he can be the President.

Claire sits and waits while Peter looks for Ted. There is no sign of him. And Claire is having a bit of a breakdown over the fact that she has made a mess of things with her ability. Meeting Peter helped put things into perspective (and vice versa: Peter feels the same way about Claire). As they share a Kodak moment, Claire spots her father, Matt and Ted walking towards them. She runs into her father's arms while Matt and Peter nod to one another. Suddenly, Peter's hands start glowing and he yells to Claire. Mr. Bennett realizes that Peter is absorbing Ted's ability. And he cannot stop it...

Review

After last week's peek five years into the future, this episode brought us back to the present, complete with its intricate plots, interaction between characters, and unanswered questions. What does Linderman want with Micah? And has he really been experimenting with Niki, D.L. and Micah all their lives? We learned that Mama Petrelli and Linderman are working together -- and so is Thompson, apparently -- and they all think killing millions in New York City is the best (only?) way to "heal" the world? In what universe does that make sense? Not this one. And not the future we saw last episode. Not any universe, probably.

Poor Micah, escaping from that apartment only to wind up back inside time and time again. It was nice to see him figure out that Candice was not his mother, though because in an earlier episode he realized Jessica was posing as Niki. That painting of Micah inside a burning building was a little disturbing, however. Is that what Linderman has in store for Micah? A fiery death? Not exactly the best way to utilize the lad's abilities.

Personally, I think Hiro is the only person who could ever show any sympathy for Sylar. Ando had the right idea: take out Sylar while he is occupied with his mother. It is unfortunate, but in order to save the world it looks like Hiro will have to lose a little of his brightness and become a little more like Future Hiro. But how did Sylar restart time after Hiro froze it? When did he absorb Hiro's ability? I hope I just missed that and it was not an oversight on the part of the writers. Heck, Sylar can turn water into snow, maybe he picked up a time-starting ability somewhere.

When Peter handed Claire the pistol, I knew what he was going to suggest. And I knew what Claire's reaction would be. The plan Peter came up with is harsh but logical. Still, one can hardly blame Claire for not seeing the logic in shooting Peter point blank in the back of the head. As for Molly Walker, nice touch making her the tracking system Matt, Ted and Mr. Bennett are attempting to destroy. I wonder where exactly her illness came from. Is it a byproduct of all these abilities? Will we ever find out?
