Another breathtaking recap by Super NBC Announcer Man. There was also a preview of tonight's episode.

The episode starts with the final moments of last week's episode and, once again, Claire spots her father, Ted and Matt walking towards them. She rushes to hug her father while Peter starts to absorb and lose control of Ted's ability. He tells Claire that she knows what she has to do and she pulls the gun from her bag. She points it at Peter but he reaches out to stop her. Somehow, he was able to get the power under control.

Hiro laments the fact that he was unable to kill Sylar and, once again, believes his mission is over. Sylar is just too powerful. Heck, he broke the sword in half. Ando grabs a telephone book and flips through it, finding a blade smith. He asks if they fix old Samurai swords. They do. Hiro takes the phone and tells whoever is on the other end that the fate of the world is in his sword-fixing hands.

Mr. Bennett and Claire talk about the fact that Peter is Claire's uncle. She is no longer angry at or afraid of her father. He explains that, along with Ted and Matt, he has come to New York City to destroy a tracking system. With the system gone, they can go back to having a normal life. But Claire wonders if she can ever truly be normal again. Maybe Peter is right, maybe she has a destiny.

Meanwhile, Peter tries to convince Ted to leave the city in order to prevent the explosion he has seen in a painting and a dream. Matt uses his ability to determine that Peter truly believes what he is saying. However, Ted is not willing to just turn and run. The CIA thinks he is a terrorist, for crying out loud! Mr. Bennett walks up and explains that he wants everyone, including Claire, to wait in a tiny town in Nebraska (Windy Fork, Population 15) until he contacts them. Claire may be the only one who can stop Ted and/or Peter.

A few hundred feet away, Sylar stands along, having eavesdropped on the whole conversation. He is going to Windy Fork as well.

In Manhattan, Nathan sits in is headquarters worrying about exit polls. Mr. Linderman, also in the room, is not worried, certain that Nathan will first become a Congressman and then the President. But Nathan is beginning to waver on the idea of letting his brother explode in New York City. So, Linderman explains that Nathan's father was also a powerful man who, at first, tried to save the world before simply giving up. Just then, Heidi rolls up (hurrah for Rena Sofer) and interrupts, something about Nathan saying goodbye to his sons before they head to school. Before leaving, Linderman gives Heidi and Nathan a gift to honor Nathan's upcoming victory. He takes her hand in his and then walks away, leaving Heidi confused. Nathan insists he has no idea what is going on.

Heidi is not all that happy about Linderman's involvement in her husband's campaign, let alone the fact that he shows up at their house. Nathan explains that Linderman will be responsible for his victory but Heidi will have none of it. Nathan is responsible for his own destiny and should not be selling his soul. Nathan notices that Heidi's foot is moving. Heidi looks down in astonishment. And then she stands up and the two embrace. A miracle!

Claire, Peter and Ted are on their way to rent a car they can take to Nebraska. Claire and Peter joke about how they will use their abilities in the future. Peter hears Sylar's voice in his head and the three run off. Sylar is eating ice cream, watching them.

Hiro and Ando have run into traffic problems on their way to the blade smith. Ando notices that folks are voting and Hiro spots Nathan (a.k.a. flying man) and wonders if he can help them. Ando reminds him that in the future, Nathan was not exactly a good guy. Nathan talks to one of his campaign managers about Heidi while Hiro yells out to him. He walks up to Hiro and Ando and they explain about the bomb and the future and ask him to come with them. He says he cannot stop it -- in fact, nobody can. As Nathan gets into his car, Hiro realizes he is already a bad guy, already a villain.

D.L. and Niki are also in the city, trailing Nathan. He can tell them where Micah and Linderman are. And he will never see them coming.

Hiro laments Nathan's fall from grace right before they find the blade smith shop. Ando spots the "godsend" symbol (the one that seems to be popping up everywhere) and then the owner of the, Mr. Claymont, walks out of the back. Hiro introduces himself and then pulls out the two parts of the sword. Claymont immediately recognizes it as the Kensei but explains that fixing it depends on Papa Nakamura, who then walks into the room Ando bows, Hiro greets his father with, and Papa Nakamura tells Hiro that his journey has come to an end.

(After a commercial)

Papa Nakamura wants to talk to his son alone. Ando warns him but Hiro must honor his father.

In Kirby Plaza, New York, Candice brings Micah a bunch of comic books. He comments on the rate at which she packs away food, comparing her to a huge cousin he has. She laughs and says she is huge as well. Micah cannot understand why someone as nice as Candice is working for Linderman. She laughs again and explains that the world sucks a lot and people are mean to one another just because of the way people look. But Linderman is going to change that. And heal the world.

There is a knock at the door and Linderman walks in. Micah immediately asks to see his mother and Linderman promises that, after today, he can go home. First, he has to use his ability to save a whole bunch of lives. Once he does, not only will he be allowed to go home, Linderman will also give his parents plenty of money for the future.

Claire and Peter are telling Ted about Sylar when the FBI show up, lead by Matt's friend Audrey. Peter grabs Claire, turns invisible, and slips through the crowd as agents wrestle Ted to the ground. Audrey tells him he is going to Guantanamo Bay and Ted asks for a concrete cell lined with led. Audrey then thanks Sylar, who calls himself Isaac Mendez, for calling in the tip about Ted. Sylar then disappears.

Hiro exclaims that he will not return to Japan. He has a mission, after all. Shockingly, Papa Nakamura agrees, and expresses his shock at Hiro being the Nakamura worthy of the family legacy. And he dismisses Hiro's worry about the sword -- it is not important. The journey to find the sword, on the other hand, restored Hiro's power and proved that he has the strength to fulfill his destiny. Papa Nakamura knew about everything. He tells his son that evil must be stopped. And he will teach Hiro how to kill Sylar. Hiro is somewhat incredulous at the idea of his father knowing anything about killing, what with Papa Nakamura being a businessman and all, but changes his mind when he sees his father exhibit a substantial amount of skill with a sword.

Candice brings Micah to a voting station, after using her shape shifting ability to turn into an older, African-American woman. She asks if she can bring her "son" with her into the actual voting booth to show him democracy in action and is allowed to do so. Micah ponders Candice's ability, wondering if she bends light. Once inside the booth, Candice reverts to her familiar form and tells Micah to use his ability to "tell" the voting machine -- and all the other machines in the building -- to vote for Nathan Petrelli. According to Micah, all the machines are networked, and he can change the votes on every one. Candice tells him to make Nathan's victory a landslide.

After a moment, Micah falls back, breathing hard, and asks if he can go home. Candice stares at him, with something shockingly close to concern showing on her face.

Once again at his headquarters, Nathan loosens his tie and turns on the television. D.L. and Jessica chose that moment to show up. Nathan is a bit surprised to see Jessica -- although he thinks she is Niki -- but agrees to tell them where Linderman is if the two can promise that Linderman will not come after him.

The television gives Nathan a landslide victory with 64% of the vote.

Papa Nakamura and Hiro train while Hiro recounts a story his father used to tell him when he was a boy. Hiro is continually beaten by his father but he seems to understand the deeper meaning of the lesson: in order to save the world he has to be willing to "cut out his own heart."

Mr. Bennett and Matt make it to the building housing the tracking system (on the 42nd floor). Matt's job is to get them to the elevators without raising suspicion. He does this by convincing one of the security guards that he works in the building. They are able to get past the guard but are stopped at the elevator. The passwords have been changed. Luckily, D.L. and Jessica show up and Mr. Bennett explains that they have similar goals. Jessica recognizes Matt as the man he threw out of a window several episodes back.

(After a commercial)

Jessica, D.L., Mr. Bennett and Matt stand silently in the elevator.

On the 42nd floor, Mohinder asks Molly how she is feeling. She is doing well, she says, and proves it by putting a pushpin into a map to represent the current location of Matt Parkman -- the police officer who saved her from Sylar. The pushpin indicates he is in the building. Mohinder is not sure whether or not she is truly cured, although the antibodies in his blood do cure her disease, but if she is, they can finally stop Sylar once and for all. He asks her to think about Sylar. Before she can, however, Thompson walks in and tells the two that they are leaving for a safe location, courtesy of a helicopter on its way.

Mr. Bennett and Matt get off the elevator on the 42nd floor, leaving D.L. and Jessica to find Linderman on the 51st floor. When asked how they are going to take out the tracking system, Mr. Bennett explains that Matt has done his job. Destroying the tracking system is his.

Thompson and Mohinder watch security camera footage of Mr. Bennett and Matt. He has a gun and tells Mohinder Mr. Bennett wants Molly.

Matt and Mr. Bennett walk down the hallway.

Thompson readies his weapon.

Matt grabs Mr. Bennett, overhearing Thompson's thoughts, and pulls him out of the hallway moments before shoots are fired. Mr. Bennett pulls a weapon of his own and rushes off, leaving Matt alone and unarmed. He peers around the corner. Thompson sneaks up on him and points the gun at his head. Mr. Bennett points his gun at Thompson's head and fires twice.

A shocked Mohinder watches Thompson's death on the security camera. He tells Molly to go back to her room.

Mr. Bennett uses Thompson's pass card to unlock the door and tells Matt that regardless of what happens inside this is the only way to safeguard their families. Mr. Bennett had no idea the tracking system was a little girl, although he knew it was a person. Mohinder manages to knock out Matt and take his gun. He points it at Mr. Bennett, who points his at Molly.

Inside the FBI vehicle, Ted is chained and looking rather sad. Out on the road, Sylar stands menacingly. With a flick of the wrist, he sends the vehicle flying. It lands upside down in front of him. The doors flying open and Ted is hanging upside down from his chains. He screams as Sylar cuts into his skull.

Hiro finally manages to bring his sword to his father's neck. His father has shown him how to stop Sylar. Relieved, Hiro rushes off to tell Ando. But Ando is not outside in the shop. He took the sword, vowing to stop Sylar on his own. A terrified Hiro relates Ando's latest forey into stupidity to his father. Ando will die.

Claire and Peter get stuck in traffic trying to make their way out of the city. They get out of their car and walk up to the scene of an accident. It is the FBI vehicle, torn to pieces, with Ted's lifeless body hanging upside down. Sylar can do what Ted could do. Claire tells Peter he has to stop Sylar. But the last time Peter fought Sylar, he died.

Linderman barks orders into a phone. The Petrelli family must not be late. D.L. and Jessica bust into his office through the wall, using D.L.'s phasing ability, and Jessica tosses Linderman against a wall. He tells them he is the one responsible for their relationship, for Micah. D.L. grabs Linderman, who says Micah is on the 42nd floor, and Jessica turns to look for her son. But Linderman calls out after her, insisting that she is going to kill D.L. for him. He offers her $20 million to killer D.L. and walk away. She admits that she wants to take the money and that she would kill him for it. But Niki would never do such a thing, so Jessica lets Niki take the body.

Since Jessica/Niki will not killer D.L., Linderman pulls a gun and fires it at Niki, only to have D.L. jump in front of the bullet. Before Linderman can kill Niki, however, D.L. thrusts a hand through his skull and crushes his brain. He then collapses, the life draining from his body.

Nathan wheels his wife onto a stage. Heidi, of course, wants to jump out of the chair and show off her working legs. Alas, people do not believe in miracles, according to Nathan, so they cannot tell the public just yet. Mama Petrelli gives him a nod and Nathan pushes Heidi in front of the cameras and the rest of the family. He then takes the podium and addresses the crowd. They are calling his victory a landslide, he says, and then he apologizes for his brother's absence.

He tells the crowd that his father, who always made the hard choices, used to say that people should use what God gave them to help others. To make a difference. To see into the darkness and find hope. He challenges the crowd to inspire by example and to help heal the world and keep it from "spinning out of control."

Peter and Claire run back to their car.

Hiro rushes out of the blade smith’s shop.

Micah stares out a window, Candice in the background.

Ando walks down the street, carrying the sword in one hand, the comic book in the other.

Audrey watches as Ted's body is wheeled away in a body bag.

Linderman lies dead on the floor. Niki cradles D.L.'s dying body in his own.

Mohinder stands with his gun pointed at Mr. Bennett, who in turn has his gun pointed at Molly.

Nathan thanks everyone. Balloons and confetti stream down from the ceiling.

Sylar stands atop a building, hands flaring with Ted's ability. He smiles his evil Sylar smile and says "Boom."

Review

Even if this episode had nothing else going for it, I would have enjoyed it simply for Rena Sofer's appearance as Nathan's formerly-crippled wife. Oh, it was obvious what Linderman's "gift" would turn out to be, but seeing Heidi step out of that wheelchair was nevertheless a touching scene. It is really too bad such a nice person is married to a scummy man like Nathan. That seems to be one of the themes of this episode, a good person being somehow involved with a bad person. Recall that Micah pointed out that Candice is a nice person working for a bad person, at least in his mind. And the kid is mighty smart.

Speaking of Candice, we are given hints that the woman we have come to know as Candice might not be her real appearance. She is shown eating throughout this entire episode and she even makes an off-handed comment about being huge. And really, we have no way of knowing what she actually looks like. I thought that was a nice touch. But can you imagine Sylar with her ability? The only possible way to find him would be Molly Walker, who presumably can find anyone just by thinking. Poor Molly, cowering behind her bed watching Mohinder try to save her life. And poor Mr. Bennett. He was prepared to kill an adult, not a little girl. And poor Matt, getting knocked out by a scientist.

I am not sad to see D.L. killed off (if he actually dies). I thought it would have been almost amusing if the bullet had gone through his body and hit Niki/Jessica, thanks to his phasing ability. The guy throws himself in harm's way for the love of his life and fails. Ah, well. At least D.L. was able to kill Linderman, it seems. What a nut. The only good thing he ever did was give Heidi back the use of her legs. Too bad he cannot heal himself the way Claire can.

Claire seemed resigned to the fact that she might have to kill Peter at the start of the episode. She pulled out the gun and was ready to shoot Peter in the head. Good thing he got Ted's ability under control. Of course, now she might have to try to shoot Sylar in the head, since Peter is unable to take down Sylar by himself. And there is little chance that Ando will be successful. I worry that Ando is going to get himself killed. And after Papa Nakamura tried so hard to teach Hiro how to kill Sylar. Hiro will be so sad should Ando have his head cut open (not that he has an ability for Sylar to steal).

Finally, it bothered me just a little that Micah was so willing to hack the voting machines. But then I remembered that although he may be really smart and have this really neat ability, he is just a kid and he just wants to see his mother again. I think most people can relate to that. I can certainly relate to the surprise with which he greeted the original first issue of the Silver Surfer comic book. I reckon Candice stole that.

Next week, the season ends. Somebody is probably going to at least start to blow up. It should be exciting!
