The following review contains spoilers for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles through the current episode, “Complications,” originally broadcast November 17, 2008.

I’ve said it in previous reviews: Derek Reese is the most interesting character in this series.  And I think it could be argued, rather easily, that he’s also the most important character in the series.  He’s more than simply a weapon against the machines, and he’s more than just John’s uncle.  He’s a connection to the future, and he’s the key to unlocking a lot of the mystery of the future.  Without Derek Reese, Fischer’s story can’t be told correctly, and that would be a shame.

QUINN’S STORY

This episode of Terminator has the potential to be huge.  It has the potential to be one of the biggest (and possibly strongest) episodes in the series.  It has the writing, the acting, and the cajones to move the story into bigger and better places.  In an isolated episode, it was fantastic, and as FOX moved to the credits, I was completely satisfied.  But if the promo is any indication, it could all be for not.

Tonight’s review, I would like to take you on an interesting investigation into something that you can only find on The Sarah Connor Chronicles.  It’s a dangerous place that few people can claim to have seen and lived to talk about it.  But it seems to be a place that the writers of the show would like us to go, so I will do my best to show you around.  Let’s journey, loyal readers, into the mind of a Terminator.

The following review contains spoilers for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles through the current episode, “The Tower Is Tall But The Fall Is Short,” originally broadcast October 20, 2008.

First of all, that’s a heck of a long title.  With the already-very-long title of the show and the title of the episode, you’re going to want to take a pretty deep breath before you take all of that in.  Which is pretty interesting because this is an episode that has a lot to take in.  It rushes itself in a few parts, and it starts tripping over itself a bit when you break it down.  But it’s another solid episode that finally gets the show moving forward again.

The following review contains spoilers for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles through the current episode, “Goodbye to All That,” originally broadcast October 6, 2008.

Every once in a while, a character will come out of nowhere and steal a show.  It happened on Smallville; Lionel Luthor was originally intended to be a minor character, and he ended up as a major part of the show’s mythos.  I think Terminator has one of those characters, and I think it’s Derek Reese.  It seems like the episodes he’s in are good, and the ones where he’s missing are bad.  Luckily for us, Derek Reese was in this episode.

The following review contains spoilers for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles through the current episode, “Allison From Palmdale,” originally broadcast September 29, 2008.

As a reviewer, I tend to try to stay positive.  I wouldn’t review a show I didn’t like, and I try to enjoy the shows I watch.  But this episode of Terminator really didn’t do anything for me, so it might be time for me to let loose on a couple things.  Beware, readers, my Terminator chip is malfuctioning, and I’m out for blood.

The following review contains spoilers for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles through the current episode, “Mousetrap,” originally broadcast September 22, 2008.

I’m pretty late with this review so I think I’m going to be more brief than I have been so far.  I have far less notes because there wasn’t really a lot going on.  There was a pretty smart plan by Cromartie, and there was a lot of dumb things done by the human characters.  Not a terribly exciting episode, but there was some good stuff hidden in there.

The following review contains spoilers for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles through the current episode, “Automatic for the People,” originally broadcast September 15, 2008.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll probably say it again: this show cannot just be about terminators chasing John Connor.  It simply can’t.  The show won’t survive if every episode was like last week’s, and I was one of the people who liked last week’s premiere episode.  The second episode, while not as fluid and compact, is more like what the show needs to be like.

The following review contains spoilers for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles through the current episode, “Samson and Delilah”, originally broadcast 9/8/08

I’ve agreed to review the Terminator show, and I find that to be an interesting thought.  I was very cautious upon watching the show because I really didn’t think it could work.  After all, the premise seemed pretty limited based on the movie series.  Terminator arrives – tries to kill one/both of the Connors – hero arrives and saves the day.  By the third movie, it seemed like everything had been done.  And that appears to be the case when looking at the new Terminator movies that will be coming out soon.
