Via Chicago Sun-Times:

LOS ANGELES--Patrick Stewart insists that filming the final "Star Trek" movie did not leave him beaming.

In fact, when the last Romulan was killed and the universe was safe for the next crew, Stewart as stalwart Capt. Picard violated a cardinal rule of space.

He cried his eyes out.

"I shot one of the final scenes for our new movie 'Star Trek Nemesis' where the entire crew is going their separate ways after 16 years together. Jonathan Frakes as Riker comes by in the scene to say goodbye to the captain," Stewart says.

"Riker says to me, 'Serving with you has been an honor, captain' and I broke down crying. Out of the clear blue sky, my emotions overwhelmed me and I collapsed into Jonathan's arms," says the British actor usually known for his reserve and his Earl Gray tea.

[...]

Yet, is it really the last voyage for "The Next Generation?" Or is this one big tease to prepare us for their return?

"I don't want it to be the last time," Stewart admits, adding this isn't because he has dollar signs in his head. Stewart does have a choice role as Professor Xavier in "The X-Men" franchise, and that certainly pays the electric bill and the mortgage.

"Honestly, I think if this movie does well, then the cast will get these calls on the Saturday of opening weekend asking us to come back for another one," he admits.
