Special thanks to fdewaele for the tip!

It's been 15 years since Brent Spiner first put on the gold face makeup and yellow contact lenses that turn him into Lieutenant Commander Data, the touchingly all-but-human android of "Star Trek: The Next Generation." But he isn't complaining. "It's been a really rewarding experience playing him, and he's a great character to play," Mr. Spiner said. "And it's never really interfered with the rest of my life or career, so I have nothing but good feelings about it.

"I hadn't played him in four years," said Mr. Spiner, who appears in "Star Trek: Nemesis," opening today nationwide. "But there I was one morning, sitting in the make-up trailer looking at myself in the mirror, and I was gold. And I thought, `Ah, there he is again.' "

Mr. Spiner said he hoped to continue his "Star Trek" connection, fate and the box office willing. "It's all about economics, finally," he said. "If this film does exceptionally well, then I have a pretty good feeling they'll ask us to come back and do another one. And if it doesn't profit as much as they need it to, then you'll never see us again."
