Surely one of the most eagerly anticipated scores of the year, Star Trek: Nemesis by Jerry Goldsmith, has a lot of expectations to fulfil.

Star Trek: Nemesis is a good score but in no way a masterpiece. But you have to give the album about twenty minutes before you begin to understand what Mr Townson had in mind in the text quoted above. A couple of beautiful, Powder-like low-key pieces are also included on the album, with the reflective and emotionally understated 'A New Friend' being a highlight. The final cue, 'A New Ending', includes a big surprise before the Star Trek march kicks in: a brief quotation from Irving Berlin's song 'Blue Skies'.
